Tidbits

  • We are in moving madness mode. Pack, pack, pack. If you drive past our house today, you will see that we have officially become one of those white trash folks that leave a bunch of junk with a sign that says "free stuff" on the end of the driveway. We've already had some fellow white trash folks take some of it off of our hands. What we haven't quite figured out yet is, how do you keep a preschooler and a toddler entertained in the packing process? We tried building a "fort" by barracading them in a corner (equipped with t.v. and toys) using plastic bins, but it's not long before toddler is climbing out. Ideas?
  • I don't know if it was from feeling intoxicated by being out sans kids/moving madness last night, but I REALLY loved seeing the new Harry Potter movie with Peter. I think it is maybe the best one yet. Up until now we have seen all the movies, but have not read the books (Peter has read the first, I guess). This movie is enough to convert me to the books. I'll be off to Wal-mart in the next couple of days to take advantage of the $6.78 pricing on their paperback versions.
  • Parker & Tyler are playing beautifully together lately. I think Parker figured out the secret to mastering his younger brother. Quite often we will hear Parker sing to him, "When my brother calls me, quickly I obey." Sheesh.

My suggestions for packing:
-Pack the children in durable boxes and ship them to their cousins until packing is done.
-Wait until the day of the move and call the entire Elder's Quorum to come throw it all in giant black garbage bags.
-Take pictures of the inside of your home and list the entire interior on ebay, buyers must pick up items purchased.
I love you and wish I was close enough to help! Good luck!

I love Parker's song! What a smart littly boy! I feel your pain with the move. We moved three times in one year. Once up to Washington from California, via Mena Ark, then two more times once we got here. I was lucky for the first move, I had my younger sisters come over and entertain the three of you. The other two moves weren't quite so bad, just across town, but by then I had Megan and she was only three months old! YIKES, I can't believe I survived those days!!!

Dude, Mollie is on the right track with the Elder's quorum...the only bad thing is things get packed so fast that you find out someone has included a bag full of poopies diapers that was supposed to go to the trash. I suggest taking the boys to one of your friend's houses, have someone make a really dramatic announcement in Elder's quorum that generates a lot of help, and pounding the whole thing out in a few hours.

First off, LOVE what you have done for your layout! You must share how you have done this...only if it is easy for a newbie like me. I was once given instructions from a friend of mine that does blogging on typepad and it was WAY too much work for me! lol.

Anyway. I'm gonna have to say call up some friends or RS to have someone watch your kids for you while you get most of your stuff packed. Are you hiring out to move your stuff or are you loading and moving yourself? Call the EQ for help on loading, as stated.

I could never get into the HP series, but your post has inspired me to give it another try. Besides, Gavin watched the first show with my sister Julia while in WA and he really was into it. So, thanks!

I thought 'bout 'cha as I drove through Kansas all day yesterday and how close I was (Salina) yet so far away (not close enough)! Hope your move goes as smooth as possible with 2 youngin's in the mix!

Michelle!
Good luck with the move and I don't buy that you're white trash.

Also, while I enjoy the Harry Potter movies and agree that the new one is the best so far - I must say that the books are so much better! I'm so glad you've decided to give them a go. You'll love them!

All I can say is good luck! Just remember these packing feelings next time you go to buy something. (That kept down my speding lots. I wasn't going to buy it if it meant more to pack the next time we moved). We had a family move into our ward that has moved 8 times in the past 6 years. This lady said she had a number of boxes with big red x's on them that meant they weren't worth unpacking...she could go without them for a year or so. You could try something like that and save yourself a year from now. I agree with the others...get some relief from the RS and EQ. That's what they're there for, right? Hope things go well. Just know, you'll live through it. We love you!

my only suggestion: don't pack all your books in one huge box like i did once. not a smart move. good luck with the move! and you'll love the harry potter series, glad you have been converted. they are so much fun to read.

I wish I had some good suggestions! I only had to pack a small apt with no kiddos and I had a tough time, so I can't imagine what you are dealing with! Just think it will all be over soon!

I'm like you with Harry Potter, I have only seen the movies, but I like them! I tried to read the first book, but it was taking too long for me to get into it. Maybe I will try it again someday...

Good luck with the move! I wish I could just come up there and take the boys off your hands for a while!

Best of luck with the move, friend! Packing with little kiddos is a royal pain. And yes, you do need to read the Harry Potter books. There are so many great tidbits that you miss out on by only seeing the movies.
