Almost a smile

I thought it was about time for us to post something about our second child, the one that is easy to forget that we have sometimes because he is so easy-going. Tyler is doing great - he's seven weeks old, waking up a little bit more these days and giving us smiles when we work really hard for them. He holds his head up amazingly, can roll from front to back and loves putting all his weight on his feet (all while making little grunting noises to assert his manliness). Parker is doing great with him - he loves to talk to Tyler using "Parker-ese."

The song we sing to Tyler is one we found on itunes by some old man named "GrandBob." He has taken one song and recorded it like 50 different times, each time using a different boy name. In a weak moment I downloaded the "Tyler" version and we've had it stuck in our heads ever since...

You're my little cutie, Tyler
You're my honeybee
You're my little cutie, Tyler
Oh what a joy you bring.

Tyler, oh Tyler,
There's one thing you should know,
Tyler, oh Tyler,
I love you so. :)

Some funny conversations we had with Parker this week:

At the dinner table...

Parker: Daddy, are you drinking milk?
Peter: Yes.
Pa: Milk comes from cows.
Pe: Yes, it does. Do you want some milk?
Pa: No, I'm drinking water.
Pe: Oh, where does water come from?
Pa: Water comes from the BEACH.

Changing Tyler's diaper...

Parker: Mama, are you using wipes?
M: Yep.
P: Yep. Wipes clean babies' bottoms, and their penises. (that one you may have had to be there, to hear how he said it to find it funny :)

After mauling Tyler in his bouncer:

M: Parker, I want you to walk over by the couch.
P: No, Mama, YOU walk over by the couch.
M: No, I'm the mommy, and I say that you need to go over by the couch.
P: But I'm THE PARKER, and I say that YOU need to go over by the couch. (sheesh)

After seeing me hurt my thumb:

P: Mama, did you get an owie?
M: Yes, Parker.
P: Poor babe.

Playing House

I think this is really turning in to the "Parker Blog."

Meet Parker's friend, Lydia. This Saturday Parker & Lydia decided to play house. They went around saying things to each other like "I'll be right back, sweetheart." They also decided to fill up the "house" with all of Parker's toys - I'm guessing they were preparing for their children (who, at the rate they were talking, are due anytime). We will sure miss Lydia when she moves to Indiana this summer!

I woke up this morning so tired that I felt that I had to make a batch of brownies to wake me up. I guess my current read, Breaking Free from Emotional Eating, isn't working its magic on me yet! :)

A Growing Boy!

Parker's idea of an after-dinner snack - an entire box of Cheezits. (This happened while I was on the phone.)

Easter pants

Welcome to my blog!! I was turned onto this by a friend and I'm so excited to get it going. As most of you know, my husband Peter & I live here in Lawrence, Kansas while Peter is attending graduate school. We'll be here another couple of years and then fly where the winds of psychology take us. We have two boys, Parker (3) and Tyler (5 weeks). Here we are on Easter Sunday. Parker's pants are rolled up because they are size 4T and his 3-year-old legs haven't caught up with his 4-year-old tummy size. We had a great Easter with Jared, Heidi & newcomer Ashley Stewart, playing Ticket to Ride Europe and chatting & eating. I'll try & keep this blog as updated as I can while running after three boys :)
