Hawaii

Peter and I were lucky enough to get away to Hawaii in June - my first time!  It was as beautiful and wonderful and I had imagined.  We stayed on Maui for just a few days, but it was worth the trip.  While there, we...

Traveled the Road to Hana.  It was absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous and because we weren't worried about kids getting carsick in the back, we loved every minute.  We explored swimming holes, waterfalls, beaches, some of them with black sand, and took in the beautiful views around each corner.  We found some delicious coconut candy and banana bread at a little stop called "Halfway to Hana." 

Explored Lahaina.  With its quaint, laid-back shops, awesome banyan tree, and delicious shaved ice, we were pinching ourselves the whole time.

Attended a luau called The Feast at Lele.  It was magnificent.  We were served plates of food from all of the different Polynesian islands and enjoyed a fantastic after-dinner show.  A memory never to forget.

Snorkeled...well, at least Peter did.  I had fun watching from the safety of the sand as he swam with gigantic sea turtles. 

Attended church.  Which was just awesome.  Such cool, humble people and we heard a really great speaker - one of the temple presidency from Kona.

Ate well.  While we ate much of our food from Wal-mart (trying to do this on the cheap), we did enjoy eating out.  Our favorite breakfast was at the Gazebo Restaurant, right at our condo...Macadamia Nut Pancakes with Coconut Syrup.  Does it get any better than that?  Our favorite dinner was Duke's - a legend.

Explored Ka'anapali Beach.  With a string of upscale resorts, we were not short on fun things to see and do on our night there.

I could not get over the beautiful foliage and rustic landscape of the island.  Something different at every turn, a gorgeous view of the ocean or the intoxicating smell of plumeria accompanied us wherever we were.  Amazing.  WE'LL BE BACK.

While we were away, the boys partied it up with G & G Stewart, who are INCREDIBLE for taking our boys and giving us a getaway!
