County Fair

You know you're in Kansas when the event drawing you to the County Fair is the Antique Tractor Pull. That's what we did Thursday night and it was very...culturally enlightening :). Actually it was pretty cool - I should've taken some video and posted it for the full effect, but here is a pic nonetheless...

We also checked out the carnival rides. Insight into Parker - he is somewhat of a chicken when it comes to putting himself in what he perceives as physical danger, just like his Mom was (okay, is). He once screamed bloody murder when we stuck him on one of those teeny tiny carousels you used to see in front of K-Mart. Here is his reaction to the mere SOUNDS coming from the these rides...
So you can imagine my AMAZEMENT when he saw the kiddie truck ride and begged to go on it! Peter & I debated for a minute whether or not to potentially waste our money on tickets for him, but in an effort to be supportive parents, we caved & bought them. Here was the result:
A happy driver! He was smiling the whole 8 times around the track - we were so proud :)
On a side note...Peter & I went out (sans Parker) on Friday night & were in the mood to divert from our chimichanga rut. We tried the "Thai House" on Mass St. & it was very tasty - I highly recommend to fellow Lawrence people.

That truck Parker is driving looks fun to drive and he looks very happy driving it. Maybe you have a truck driver in your future!

Hooray for Parker! This post had me chucklin' hard! I'm glad Parker has overcome this little inhibition with park rides! Now he is gonna keep asking to go back and ride again! Ride on, Parker!

Glad to hear Parker survived the fair! We were there the same night. I'm surprised we didn't run into you as we ran into someone we knew around every corner!

On a side note - Chris has been wanting to try Thai House. I've been a little nervous but maybe we'll give it a try now.

Hooray for Parker!! We would have loved joining you at the tractor night, and for the Thai house! Lydia wants to write Parker and email today, so when she wakes up from her nap, we'll get on and do it!!
